Whittaker vs Imavov for me and winner fights the winner of DDP vs Chimaev. Izzy vs Strickland because there is history there and none of them will get a title shot while DDP is champ.

Maybe Strickland is forever locked in sparring mode and the gym wars are beginning to show a little bit . Sean is still good but he seems to have plateaued. Dricus though , Wow just an excellent game plan and execution . Excellent fight IQ and stamina .

Dricus shut down Sean's jab and it left him without ideas.

Staph infection being treated by antibiotics I think is the culprit of Seans inactivity. Even still, great performance from Dricus.

At this point, I don’t believe anyone in the top 10 respects the power that Strickland is bringing back. The game plan is set. He intends to outpoint his opponent. It’s not about anything dynamic at all. You know exactly who your opponent is and have no concern about him actually mixing martial arts.

Sean didn’t learn any lessons from the first fight because he decided to blame it on a liberal conspiracy instead

Dricus had a much better defensive plan for the jab, he made the adjustments after the first fight. Once Strickland couldn't land his most effective strikes, he had nothing else to offer. DDP basically shut him down the same way he shut Izzy down, he wasn't off he was just out game planned and outstruck.

Looked like a staph on Sean's arm, wonder if that effected his output? Either way he never really took the chances he needed to to get the job done.

I never heard Strickland acknowledge it, but there's no way his gas tank wasn't compromised from the staph infection (on his left arm - could not have been more obvious). No way the antibiotics didn't destroy him.

I liked your post interview questions Johnny, keep it up mate! I have always liked DDP because he is respectful and backs up his confidence. He was crushing everyone and I thought Rob would stop him. It was devistating when he beat Rob, but after I got over that, I knew he'd be champ. Even when he's tired, he just keeps coming forward like the terminator. I think he beats Khamzat. After seeing Strickland's staph infection, it was clear that he'd be in for a rough night.

His stance switching made it hard for Sean to start first in exchanges.

Sean had staph. Simple. Ddp probably would have won anyway. But seems VERY obvious. Knew from weigh in that sean had staph.

Jarzinio is way better than heaps of the blobs in the heavyweight division. He didn't deserve to be cut. Dana blamed him for the fight being boring which wasn't fair.

Dricus team out smarted them. Sean was waiting for takedown from Dricus. Dricus went in to beat him by being very technically beter. Beating him with points. And he figured out how to not get hit by the jab.

Sean has run his race. He's said himself that he has enough money not to need to fight, good on him, for fighters who are there just for money like Sean, I think he's lost his motivation for taking many more risks in a fight. Tatiana needed more fights before being thrown in there with Weili but I get it that the division is getting cleared out and they need to give Weili opponents she hasn't already defeated.

Rob's loss ageing better and better. If Rob doesn't want to fight Strickland, good on him. The time was last year, Rob said yes, Strickland said no. If Rob is keen... great, go for it. Getting a rematch off a clear loss... back of the queue.

The way I see it is that, at minimum, Dricus just almost entirely outclassed the Sean who gave him a razor close fight last time, beat Costa (if people actually watch it back, it's closer than they acted like to begin with), beat Imavov on short notice (who's just smashed Izzy) and dominated Adesanya. That in and of itself is crazy. But it as always going to be a game of who would improve more and we all expected what happened, that for all his ability, Strickland wouldn't change where DDP absolutely would.

I really like Sean and his defensive style but after this I can't defend him anymore. After Nicksick went to Bispings podcast and told that they're trying to mix things up I really thought Strickland would have a chance but no. Too f*ing stubborn to change his style and after all the spotlight he got in the last 2 years I guess the competition starts to figure him out and simply will outclass him. He won't sniff gold ever again with that mindset and after this performance I'm sure his decline starts now. Better give up MMA and start boxing. What a waste.
